My addiction to television series', be it cartoons or real live humans, started with Meteor Garden and my aunt's DVD copy of the series. TV series, reduces life matters into the simplest things, and as I am constantly being thrown in the middle of complex issues of life and such, I welcome the addiction with arms wide open. I don't watch tagalog tv series. Sorry for being "unpatrionistic" but I'm surrounded by Filipinos everyday seeing them in television when I want to rest is just a bit too much. Besides, most series from this country are Drama, if I want to cry I would only need to contemplate the direction of my life.

The "girl getting away with pretending to be a boy" concept was a hit in Korea and also here in the Phils which is probably the reason why there's another one of them being aired on Primetime TV: "Hanazakari no Kimitachi e" of Japan and "Hana Kimi" of Taiwan (sorry, not sure whether the Taiwanese title really is "Hana Kimi").
I haven't watched the Taiwanese
version but I was hooked on "Hanazakari no Kimitachi e," which is based on a Manga called Hana Kimi, mainly because the guy playing Nakatsu Shuichi (Ikuta Toma) is cute. Horikita Maki plays the lead Ashiya Mizuki, a girl who went to an all boys school just to see her crush Sano Izumi played by Oguri Shun. Ikuta Toma plays the Nakatsu Shuichi, the dude who also fell for Ashiya even though he knew she was a boy. If you've watched Hanayori Dango Season 2 (Episode 1), you'll remember him playing Oribe Junpei, the guy who used Makino Tsukushi to get to Doumyouji Tsukasa. The series is slightly different from the Manga but it was 'cute' as well.
I haven't watched the Taiwanese

What is it with these stories with girls pretending to be boys? Does this have anything to do with the number of gay people coming out of the closet? I mean, technically, these boys who fall in love with the girl who is only "pretending" to be a boy is gay right?. But then again, maybe it's can serve us more than just entertainment. Years ago, if shows like these turned up it probably wouldn't be this much of a hit but now that people are finally accepting gays... maybe it'll help more people adjust to the fact that gays are a part of our society too.
